Learn what precautions you can take
It is important to know what precautions to take, and this applies to anyone, whether you have been affected by cyberbullying or not.
• Unusual passwords – It may be tempting to always use the same password for every single thing that you sign in for online. Yes, it is much easier to remember the name of your first pet and the number 1. But using a combination of letters, lowercase, uppercase, symbols, and numbers will make sure that your accounts are even more secure. It will also diminish the risk of someone hacking all of your accounts. Don’t use any part of your name or email address. Also, make sure not to use your birthday as this is easy for people you know to guess. One useful tip for varying passwords for each site that you join is to keep a password book. The concept’s pretty self-explanatory; join a new site, get a new password, write it down. Just be careful and make sure that you keep it in a safe place where no else can find it.
• Don’t let anyone see you signing in. – If someone does see you signing in, change your password as soon as you can. Even if it was someone who you really trust and you possibly feel as if you are being overly cautious, people can change and conflicts arise quickly. So better safe than sorry.
Sign out of any website you use before leaving a public computer – This may seem obvious but honestly, it is such an easy thing to do. This could include a library, computer shop or even a family computer.
