If someone experiences online harassment, their emotional well-being may be badly affected. They may suffer from a lack of confidence or lowered self-esteem. They may doubt their self-worth and the validity of their opinions, which may mean they avoid talking about their feelings or won’t admit what is upsetting them.

Their mental health may also be affected, as online harassment can trigger increased anxiety, depression, stress or insomnia. In extreme cases, they may even fear for their personal safety. Or they may simply be visibly upset or angry after spending time online or receiving a text message.
